Create a Visual Pill Organizer

, ,

There are tons of different pill organizers on the market but none of them come with a cheat sheet that reminds you of what pills are supposed to go into what time slot in the organizer. So I made one.

First, your pill organizer should be segmented into Morning, Noon, and Evening. Anything else will be too complicated and may increase the probability of confusing your parent, which will lead to more mistakes.

Second, create a cheat sheet and display it above the pill organizer. This cheat sheet should include:

  1. The actual pills taped onto it.
  2. The time of day to take the pill
  3. The name of the medicine or supplement
  4. The purpose of the medicine
  5.  The milligram dose of the medicine

The reasons for this are:

  1. Your parent will likely mix and match different pills into different bottles by mistake so you won’t know what pill is what unless you Google the letters and numbers on the pills.
  2. Your parent will likely ask you what each pill is and what it is for — constantly.
  3. The cheat sheet can be added to a Health Binder and brought to a doctor’s visit or given to an EMT. They love it when you make their job easy.
